Where did you grow up?
Albuquerque, NM
What's the most interesting thing you've learned working in a CPA firm?
Having worked in both public accounting and private industry, the most interesting thing I've learned is how differently the same set of numbers can look depending on which side of the audit you're sitting on. On the public side, you're testing whether the story holds up. On the private side, you're the one living with the decisions day to day. Seeing both angles has given me a much deeper appreciation for how much judgment and context sits behind every number.
What's your favorite part about working with clients?
Seeing the moment when something that felt overwhelming finally clicks. Whether it's walking through a complicated transaction or just explaining why a number moved the way it did, there's real satisfaction in taking something confusing and making it clear. I also enjoy being able to relate to clients in a genuine way; I know what it's like to be the one asking the questions and the one answering them.
What do you like doing for fun (outside of work, of course)?
Outside of work, it's mostly parenting and building a house; one of those is a joy, and the other is a series of decisions I didn't know I'd ever have to make. Running is my daily reset, and I always try to keep a book going.
